Orthotics

Professional treatment of calluses, corns, and pressure points on at-risk feet. Painless, risk-free, and with visible results from the first session. Regain softness and comfort while walking.

Custom orthotics

1. Moldable podiatric orthoses are custom-made devices created directly on the patient's foot using two-component silicones (base catalyst). When mixed, a reaction occurs that allows the material to be molded and plasticized in minutes, creating a precise piece to protect, align, or relieve pressure on specific areas.

How does the system (base catalyst) work?

  • Two components are mixed in a controlled proportion
  • It initiates a vulcanization/curing reaction (fast)
  • Silicone goes from malleable to elastic and resistant
  • It adapts to the patient's anatomy in real time

📌 Result: a custom-made orthosis, ready in the same consultation.

1. Step-by-step clinical process

  1. Assessment: Identify pressure points, deformities, and objective (unloading, alignment, protection)
  2. Preparation: hygiene, drying and, if necessary, skin protection
  3. Mixture: base catalyst until a homogeneous consistency is achieved
  4. Molding: direct placement between/in front of/behind the fingers or over prominences
  5. Functional modeling: it is shaped with the foot in a neutral position
  6. Setting time: hardens in a few minutes
  7. Final adjustment: trimming and polishing for comfort

Main indications

  • Interdigital corns (“corns”)
  • Claw or hammer fingers (alignment/unloading)
  • Hallux valgus (bunion) – protection and separation
  • Recurring chafing and blisters
  • Post-surgical (as indicated)
  • Support in the prevention of onychocryptosis due to lateral pressure

Clinical benefits

  • ✔️ Made to measure in a single session
  • ✔️ They redistribute pressure and reduce immediate pain
  • ✔️ Elastic, comfortable and washable material
  • ✔️ They improve digital alignment
  • ✔️ They reduce friction inside the footwear
  • ✔️ They can be combined with other treatments (delamination, orthonyxia)

Important considerations

  • They require professional technique (position and form determine success)
  • They should be checked periodically for wear or changes in the foot.
  • In patients with diabetes mellitus or vascular compromise, they are used under close monitoring.
  • It does not replace medical treatment for severe active infections.

Care and maintenance

  • Wash with water and neutral soap, dry completely
  • Do not expose to excessive heat
  • Use with clean socks for greater durability
  • Check your skin daily (for redness or pressure points)
  • Seek adjustments if it loses its shape or comfort

Duration

  • Variable depending on use and activity
  • Generally weeks to months
  • It is replaced or readjusted according to clinical evolution.

Treatment objective

  • Discharge high-pressure areas
  • Correct/adjust the position of the fingers
  • Protect your skin and prevent injuries
  • Maintaining comfort while walking and preventing relapses
